Frequently asked questions
The Dyeing Made Easy subscription box is £35 per month.
The course runs for 12 months.
If you want to carry on after that, we also offer a smaller monthly box of yarn and knitting patterns, for you to continue your journey.
Absolutely!
The course is designed for complete beginners. It starts from very easy methods, and builds up over time til you feel really confident.
Only if you knock something over!
Normally it should just be one saucepan on the hob, or one bowl in the microwave, etc.
Put a damp j-cloth under where you are spooning dye powder, to catch any particles, and that should be fine.
You will need to soak the yarn first, and rinse it afterwards, so working in the kitchen is the best choice. Keep an old towel handy for spills, and to roughly dry the yarn at the end. Then it just hangs up to dry on a radiator or drying rack.
Your kit can stay tidy in a stackabox, and the whole thing shouldn't take over your house at all.
We recommend you allow one morning or afternoon to complete each month's lesson.
It might only take an hour or two, but you don't want to feel rushed.
We will email you with details when you subscribe.
Basically, you will need a large saucepan, a lot of cheap white vinegar, and an old towel, an apron, a j-cloth, a cheap jug. Nothing hi-tech, just basic kitchen stuff.
It's a good idea to have a stackabox ready to keep your stuff in, this is the key to not letting the dyeing hobby take over!
Your box will always arrive at the beginning of the month after you subscribe.
If you subscribe early in the month, there will be a bit of a gap while you wait.
Our cut-off for subscriptions in any month, is the 25th. If you subscribe after that, you will be included in the following month's intake. So if you subscribe on 27th February, for example, you will be debited on 25th March, and your first box will be sent at the beginning of April.
Panic not, we value you subscribing and your box will arrive at the beginning of the month following your sign up.
You will be debited on the 25th of the month you subscribed.
So if you sign up on the 14th of a month, then your payments won't go out until the 25th of that month.
If you subscribe after the 25th, you will be debited on the 25th of the following month. Your first box will be sent at the beginning of the month after you are first debited.
This is to allow us to manage the payments and box purchases at this end.
Please remember that we post all the boxes at the beginning of each month, regardless of when you subscribed!
If you find you're not keeping up with the boxes, then you can take a break til you are ready to carry on. Email us to explain, and we will pause your subscription - and we'll start your boxes again where you left off.
You can unsubscribe at any time, although we would prefer you to complete the first three months of your course as we will have bought the stuff!
However, we understand that sometimes things are not what you expected, or circumstances change. So please just email us and we can unsubscribe you at any point.
When you join the course, there is an initial commitment of 3 months when you won't be able to cancel through your customer login. This is to cover our initial outlay for your boxes - we've learnt the hard way, sorry!
After this period you can cancel at any time.
At the moment we only ship to customers within the UK.
We cannot offer overseas shipping at the current time, it's just far too expensive and would take up too much time to organise.
